Mickey Mouse and I were both born in 1928. He's the first character I learned to draw. That won me a prize in the regional fall fair, The Hants County Exhibition when I was in grade three. In my teen years, I painted posters as well as signs on store windows and delivery trucks to earn money. Then I was able to work my way through college doing the same thing. My fun in university was doing cartoons for the college newspapers. For 35 years as a surgeon, I still created and sold paintings in both watercolor and oil. Donating paintings to worthy organizations as fund raisers has been a pleasant annual charitable effort. In retirement, art continues to dominate my thoughts and activities.
